Accepted Insurance

Please note, TGMC is contracted with the insurance companies, networks and health plans listed; however, patients should note that hospital based physicians such as, radiologists, pathologists, anesthesiologists, emergency room physicians and neonatologists providing healthcare services at the hospital may not always have a contract with all the companies listed above. These physicians will submit charges for professional services provided to you and are in addition to the patient’s hospital bill.

In order to obtain information regarding network participation of any hospital based physician, patients may refer to the online provider directory of their insurance company for the most up-to-date information, call the hospital admitting department or the physician’s customer service number.

Patients may request specific information from their health insurance issuer as to what benefits are payable under their healthcare policy for hospital based physicians. In order to assist you, please refer to this listing which provides the customer service telephone numbers and billing addresses for all hospital-based physicians who practice at TGMC.

Financial Assistance

TGMC provides financial assistance for:

  • Emergency and medically necessary care,
  • To patients who are Louisiana residents,
  • And who are unable to pay.

Financial assistance applies to your portion of the bill only, for example, your deductible or co-payment.

Eligibility

Financial assistance is based on your family income and the current Federal Poverty Level.

The current Federal Poverty Level can be found at https://www.healthcare.gov/glossary/federal-poverty-level-FPL/ 

 Financial Assistance is offered as follows:

  • If your family income is 150% or less of the Federal Poverty Level, you may receive a 100% discount.
  • If your family income is more than 150% but less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, you may be eligible to receive discounted rates based on a sliding scale (Sliding scale detailed can be found in the Financial Assistance Policy under Attachment A).
  • If your family income is more than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, you may be eligible to receive discounted rates based on a case-by-case basis based on your specific circumstances, such as catastrophic illness or medical indigence, at the discretion of TGMC.

Patient Billing Rights

Patients who receive financial assistance may not be charged more for the same services generally billed to insured patients.

Billing and Collection Process

When you provide the name, address and policy number of your insurance company when you register, TGMC will file your primary insurance claim for you. We recommend tracking the following for services rendered: charges, co-pays, deductible, co-insurance, insurance payments, Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and your TGMC statement. Organizing this information will be helpful in case you need to discuss your statement.

In the weeks following your visit to TGMC, the billing process occurs as follows:

  • TGMC will submit claims to your primary insurance company.
  • You should receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company four to six weeks after the first claim is filed. The EOB will indicate services billed, amount paid and payee.
  • If you do not hear from your insurance company within four to six weeks of your visit, you should follow up with them.
  • If payment is mailed to TGMC, the payment may be reflected on your next monthly statement. Statements are mailed monthly to you.
  • Additional charges and payments to your original statement will appear on your monthly statement as they are posted to your account.
  • You should retain your statements to help you track charges, payments, adjustments and your balance.
