Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has been honored by the Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) with the Trust Funds Safety Star Award for TGMC’s patient safety initiative on Fall Prevention.
The Safety Star Award program acknowledges LHA Trust Fund member facilities that have developed innovative ideas that improve patient safety. TGMC received this award for reducing fall rates at the facility through implementation of a comprehensive fall prevention program that included patient and family education, fall huddles and bed alarm training. TGMC’s commitment to quality and safety are evidenced by the significant reduction in patient falls resulting from this project.
“TGMC is honored to receive this prestigious award for patient safety,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO. “Patient safety is our top priority and our fall prevention team has worked diligently to implement new protocol to significantly reduce fall rates and ensure our patients are safe.”
TGMC received this outstanding recognition at the Louisiana Hospital Association Summer Conference on July 21, 2015.
