TGMC Earns an ‘A’ Grade for Patient Safety

Houma, LA–01/04/2016

Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) is the only hospital in the region to earn an ‘A’ Grade for Patient Safety in Leapfrog’s Fall 2015 Hospital Safety Score.

Recognizing its strong commitment to patient safety, TGMC earned an A in this elite national ratings program.  The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by the Leapfrog Group.  TGMC As the first and only hospital safety rating to be peer-reviewed in the Journal of Patient Safety, the Hospital Safety Score is designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.

More than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals were assigned scores in October 2015, with TGMC receiving an A grade. The Hospital Safety Score is fully transparent, offering a full analysis of the data and methodology used in determining grades on the website.

We are proud to achieve this outstanding level of patient safety through this national recognition,” said Phyllis Peoples, TGMC president and CEO. “Our dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff worked diligently to insure we are providing the safest environment for our patients while providing experienced healthcare.”
