TGMC Announces July Employee of the Month


Terrebonne General Medical Center’s (TGMC) honors Samuel Matherne, RN as the July Employee of the Month. Matherne is a registered nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at TGMC and the coordinator of the nationally accredited Chest Pain Center at TGMC. He has been a valued member of the TGMC team for over 20 years.
In an effort to recognize outstanding employees, TGMC names an employee of the month. Our employees of the month show an outstanding constant commitment to the well being of our patients, staff and extended families, and through their participation in the personal journeys they have with them. The employee of the month also makes it a priority to live out the TGMC mission of providing exceptional healthcare with compassion.
 Matherne is described as an outstanding patient advocate who does everything in his power to ensure his patients have a great experience. He was recently recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as the Early Heart Attack Care’s Person of the Year Honoree for being a leading advocate in early heart attack education and prevention. He is responsible for leading the accreditation process for TGMC’s chest pain center. This included organizingand leading a team, writing policies, and educating medical personnel both inside and outside the hospital. Matherne has also initiated and performed mock chest pain drills with all TGMC departments, Chabert Medical Center, Acadian Ambulance Service, and Cardiovascular Institute of the South. Thanks to Matherne’s hard work and dedication, TGMC’sChest Pain Center was awarded the highest level of accreditation by the internationally recognized Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPS)joining an elite group of hospitals in the world who have achieved thisdistinct designation.
