Did you know that heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined? To create awareness about heart disease prevention, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and the Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) Healthy Lifestyles Center are hosting the 2nd annual Women’s Love Your Heart Luncheon on Friday, February 27 from 11 a.m. - 1:00p.m. at TGMC’s Medical Atrium Auditorium located at 8120 Main Street.
CIS and TGMC have teamed up to provide a dynamic event which will include a heart-healthy lunch,as well as health screenings, exhibits and presentations. TGMC’s Chef Jacqueline Marsh will provide a heart-healthy cooking demonstration, and heart patient Jeanne Caldarera will share her testimony about how heart disease has affected her life. CIS president, founder and medical director,Dr. Craig Walker, will speak about women’s risk of heart disease. Featured screenings will include blood pressure checks and an InBody 360 Composition Analysis. CPR demonstrations will be available as well as education on smoking cessation and venous disease.
This is an opportunity to learn about the risk factors of heart disease and methods of prevention. Adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle and receiving appropriate medical care can help to prevent cardiovascular disease. Do you know your risk? Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
