TGMC earns distinction as an Employer of Choice As one of the region’s largest employers, Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has always recognized that employee satisfaction is an integral part of providing top-quality care. Those efforts have now earned us a national spotlight, as TGMC was recently awarded the distinction of being named an Employer of Choice® by Employer of Choice Inc., of Greensboro, North Carolina. This prestigious honor recognizes TGMC’s dedication to the achievement of a higher level of workforce continuity, stability and performance to help ensure employee satisfaction and customer loyalty. Only 1 percent of hospitals in the nation operate at the level required to win an Employer of Choice designation. Phyllis Peoples, TGMC President and CEO, gives credit for the honor to the hospital’s staff members. “This award confirms and recognizes the wonderfully dedicated and skilled team members at TGMC,” Peoples says. In order to receive the award, TGMC had to complete a rigorous evaluation process, which included detailed reviews of the management team, employees and medical staff. In addition, an opinion survey was completed, and Employer of Choice staff visited TGMC for an on-site visit. Throughout the process, standards had to be met in a broad variety of areas, including organizational culture, leadership, care, growth and opportunity, job and process design, and human resources. “Terrebonne General is an organization that inspires confidence in what is possible in the world of health care,” says Joyce L. Gioia, President of Herman Group, the parent organization of Employer of Choice. “Houma is fortunate to have such a strong and service-oriented organization to provide care.”
