TGMC’S DIABETES MANAGEMENT PROGRAM MERITS ADA RECOGNITION
Date released: 4/18/2013
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition Program for quality diabetes self-management education program was recently awarded to Terrebonne General Medical Center’s (TGMC) Diabetes Management program. ADA believes that this program offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.
The Association’s Education Recognition Certificate assures that education programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs. Programs apply for Recognition voluntarily. TGMC Diabetes Management program achieved this designation by having a knowledgeable staff of health professionals and a national standard by which to measure the quality of services they provide.
TGMC offers a comprehensive diabetes self-management program to serve the needs of the diabetes population in our region. C.R.U.I.S.E to Control: A Diabetes Self-Management Program will teach you how to navigate the waters, fuel up, and cruise along through the deep and sometimes tricky waters of diabetes. Our team of educators understands that diabetes self-management is a life-long journey. Based on the needs of the patient and family, and the recommendations of the referring physician, the program will provide patients with a complete educational/training experience.
“Our Diabetes Management team works hard to offer our community a place to learn how to control this disease. We are proud of our employees that continue to provide a high level of exceptional healthcare with compassion,” said Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO of TGMC.
The Diabetes Self-Management Education Program at TGMC has been recognized by the
American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education since 1997 and was the first facility of its kind in the Tri-Parish area to be recognized.
