TGMC CELEBRATES NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR MONTH
Date released: 1/14/2008
Did you know that you can make a New Years Resolution to save lives this year and stick to it? One pint of your donated blood can save up to three lives.
The Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) Blood Donor Center encourages you to celebrate National Blood Donor Month in January by coming in to donate blood and making a commitment to donate at least one more time in 2008.
Someone needs blood every two seconds, and in the winter months blood is in shorter supply when blood donors’ schedules are affected by the holidays, inclement weather and travel. You can help solve this problem by making blood donation a regular part of your life this year.
Blood donation is simple and the entire process usually takes less than 30 minutes. The TGMC Blood Donor Center will take you through a 4-step process to donate: medical history, quick physical, donation and a refreshment. As a thank you for giving, after donating donors can choose from a t-shirt, cd holder or free cholesterol check.
If you are interested in donating blood, and are at least 17 years old and 110 lbs, please call the TGMC Blood Donor Center at 985-873-4025 or come by the Center located in TGMC’s Medical Annex Building behind the hospital on Belanger Street.
