OutReach Opportunity Club

The TGMC Outreach Opportunity Club is a free service offered at the OutReach Center located in Southland Mall. It provides a safe, climate-controlled environment to walk for exercise. Members come throughout the day and walk laps around the mall. The club is a great way to exercise, meet new people and keep up with the latest trends and sales in the mall.

Join the TGMC OutReach Opportunity Club and receive the immediate benefits of exercise, plus, you can earn useful prizes along the way! To join, come by the OutReach Center in Southland Mall and complete an enrollment form. As you accumulate mall miles, you will earn the following prizes:

• 1,000 miles = Sweatshirt
• 700 miles = Cholesterol Screening
• 350 miles = T-Shirt
• 150 miles = Blood Pressure Check and Water Bottle
• 50 miles = Sweatband
• At Sign Up = Key Bracelet

Before Beginning

As with any new exercise program, check with your physician before you begin. It is best to have a medical evaluation if you are new to exercise, have existing medical problems, are a smoker or if you are overweight. If you need a physician, contact the TGMC OutReach Center located in Southland Mall at 985-876-7577. TGMC is not responsible for injuries or accidents associated with this program.

How to Keep Your Mileage

The OutReach enter will create a personal fitness log for you to track your mileage. When you arrive at the mall for your walk or after you finish your walk, simply go to the OutReach Center to sign in and log your laps. The staff will convert your laps into miles. As you reach each milestone, you will receive a prize… it’s that simple! If you walk during hours that the OutReach Center is not open, sign in at the Southland Mall information desk. Your laps will be added to your fitness form the next working day.

One complete lap around Southland Mall, as shown on the map, equals 2/3 of a mile. Three times around Southland Mall equals two miles.

The OutReach Center conducts various programs, support groups and screenings that are offered to the community at no charge or for a minimal fee. The Center shares resources with other public and private service agencies, which are made available to the community. TGMC’s OutReach Center is your health and education resource center. Stop by for free information on virtually any health-related topic (our staff will seek information if what you need is not on hand).
