In order to meet your special needs during pregnancy, we have a program designed to fit you and your infant! We believe that preparation and choices are the keys to an easier and smoother delivery.

To provide a home-like environment, our Post-partal Unit offers:

  • Sleeping arrangements for your significant other.
  • Delivery room training for the person of your choice to give support during delivery.
  • A Short Stay option for mothers ready to go home soon after delivery.
We Give You the Best of Care...
  • An Obstetric (OB) staff of professional, highly motivated Registered Nurses who receive continuing education in all aspects of obstetrical nursing.
  • TGMC's staff is highly skilled in Inpatient Obstetrics.
  • Our unit uses state-of-the-art equipment, including an advanced fetal-monitoring system.
  • During your post-partal recovery period, the same nurse cares for both you and your newborn.
We Inform You Before and After...
  • Education begins in your physician's office where information regarding your pregnancy is provided to you by your physician's office staff. These materials are designed to make you feel more comfortable with the biological changes you are experiencing. Tours of our facility are also available for an inside view of what you can expect at TGMC.
  • Prepared Childbirth Classes are a series of six classes providing an in-depth look at the upcoming delivery and what you can expect afterwards. Topics covered include Lamaze breathing techniques, posturing, positioning, delivery choices, comfort measures, and baby care.
  • Prenatal Classes teach the person of the mother's choice about delivery. This class also covers the labor and delivery process, newborn procedures, your hospital stay, your baby's hospital stay, and newborn safety.
  • Sibling Classes focus on helping brothers and sisters understand what it means to have a new baby at home. The classes teach them how to diaper, feed, and hold a baby ... and it's designed to make them feel like they have an important part in the newborn's life as well.
  • Breastfeeding Classes are taught by our certified lactation consultant. It provides information on breast changes, breastfeeding after delivery, nursing at home, and how to handle potential problems that may develop while you are nursing.
  • Infant Massage Classes focus on massage techniques for newborns and infants to aid in baby's growth and development, ease colic, and relieve insomnia.

Bright Beginnings Newsletters will arrive every month from the time your pregnancy is confirmed through the baby's first year. These newsletters offer information about how your body is changing each month ... as well as how your baby is growing. It provides you with tips on both medical and lifestyle questions.

  • Individual labor rooms and bathrooms for your privacy during labor and recovery.
  • Private rooms for the duration of your recovery.
  • Special suites for extra comfort and elegance at reasonable rates.
And a Little Something Extra...
  • Newsletters offering useful tips and information from the beginning of your pregnancy through your infant's first year.
  • A special complimentary dinner for you and your spouse or support person before you leave the hospital.
  • A full lactation service, including a certified lactation consultant and a breast pump rental station.
