HOUMA – Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) presents a monthly bereavement support group designed to help the community cope with the loss of a loved one. The monthly event will begin on Monday, March 19, 2018 in the TGMC Medical Atrium at 5:30 pm and is free to the community.
Support meetings will provide resources to help those dealing with a loss achieve comfort and openly explore the many emotions commonly felt. Each hour-long meeting will include a brief lecture by an expert in the field followed by an open forum with an activity and group discussion. Lecture topics will vary every month with March’s topic focusing on acquainting group members. The March meeting will be led by Penny Brooks, LCSW, TGMC Social Worker.
The support group, facilitated by TGMC Supportive Care Coordinator, Melissa Rice, MSN, RN, will provide resources and support to find comfort, share pain, anger and depression and other emotions felt following a loss in a healthy manner.
The support group is free to the public. Reservations are required. For more information or to make a reservation, contact 985-850-6082.
