Each December, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC partners with the American Cancer Society to host “Love Lights a Tree,” a Christmas tree lightening ceremony to honor and memorialize all those who have survived or those who may have lost their lives due to cancer. This year’s Love Lights a Tree Ceremony was held on December 6th at 6 p.m. in the TGMC Medical Atrium Auditorium.
The Love Lights a Tree ceremony is a fundraising opportunity for the American Cancer Society where families and loved ones can purchase an ornament dedicated to those who have fought the battle of cancer. During the tree lightening ceremony two local choirs, the South Terrebonne High School Choir and St. Lucy Catholic Church Choir honored us with Christmas carols that filled the families hearts with peace and joy. The names of each cancer patient we read by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC’s Medical Oncologists as their families and loved ones placed an ornament on the tree in their name. All of proceeds from this event will go to cancer research, education, and patient services.
