Terrebonne General Medical Center’s (TGMC) accredited Chest Pain Center is the first and only hospital in Louisiana to be honored with the Amerinet Healthcare Achievement Award. The Amerinet Healthcare Achievement Awards recognize the dedication and commitment of our membership to reduce healthcare costs and improve healthcare quality by creating and successfully implementing efficiencies in operations and in enhancing patient care delivery.
TGMC cardiovascular physicians and staff are world-renowned for providing innovative and advanced cardiac care to patients experiencing a heart attack or other cardiac issues.
The medical center treats over 2,500 cardiac patients a year and continues to provide the highest quality of care to cardiac patients. TGMC was awarded this distinguished Amerinet Healthcare Award due to the improvement of cardiac care for the chest pain patient through evidence based practice, monitoring key quality outcome indicators, education and efficient utilization of resources.Policies and procedures were developed to educate and guide TGMC staff on care of the chest pain patient including guidelines on identification and management of the patient throughout the hospital. Triage protocols for the management of patients from time of 9-1-1 call to arrival in the cardiac catheterization lab were also reviewed and improved.
In December 2014, TGMC was accredited by the Society for Cardiovascular Patient Care as a Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Intervention. This accreditation indicates the highest level of care in the region for patients having a heart attack. During 2014 TGMC improved door to balloon times from 57 to 52 minutes which is better than the national average.TGMC also reached thousands of people in the region through local television to educate regarding Early Heart Attack Care.
“TGMC is dedicated to bringing cutting edge cardiology technology and advancements to our medical center,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO of TGMC. “We are honored that Amerinet has recognized the hard work of our physicians and staff to provide superior care to our patients.”
