Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has been granted a three-year term of accreditation in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transthoracic and Adult Transesophageal by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) validating that excellence in cardiopulmonary care is provided.
Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in the United States. On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of cardiovascular disease – disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Early detection of life threatening heart disorders and other diseases is possible through the use of Echocardiography procedure. TGMC’s skilled Echocardiography sonographers are able to perform these specialized examinations and utilize the type of equipment needed. Our experienced cardiologists have the background and knowledge to interpret this diagnostic testing critical to a quality patient diagnosis.
TGMC underwent a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts and was found to be providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process. Because TGMC provides this expert level of care, IAC Accreditation was achieved.
“This is a major accomplishment for our world-class cardiovascular services at TGMC and just another way we are bringing you a new way of health,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO. “Our expert physicians and staff are providing the most advanced, compassionate care using innovative testing and procedures. We are truly proud of their hard work in accomplishing this acknowledgement.”
