Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has begun construction on a new state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Caring MR Suite® Imaging Area as the hospital continues to enhance the quality of the patient experience.
The new world-class MRI suite will feature a GE Optima MR450w 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. The technology of the new MRI will provide clearer images while also increasing patient comfort. The MRI will also feature acoustic reduction technology that is able to reduce noise for all MRI exams without compromising image quality. The silencing feature should help reduce patient’s anxiety during scans.
The innovative TGMC Caring MR Suite will provide a unique and soothing environment featuring senses of sight, sound and touch. Patients will be able to personalize colored lighting, music, images and video with just a tap of the screen. From the moment patients step into the TGMC Caring MR Suite, they will feel a sense of relaxation to help minimize anxiety and increase their sense of control. The TGMC Caring MR Suite is also adaptable to patient’s iphones and ipods. Patients will be able to listen to their own music, or watch personal videos or photos, during the scan. This technology will also be available on the 3-T MRI system and has been proven to comfort patients of all ages and reduce the need for sedatives among children.
“We are thrilled to bring this new MRI and Caring MR Suite to TGMC,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO. “This project is another way for TGMC to bring value to our community by implementing advanced technology that raises the quality of service that weare providing for our patients while also providing a comfortable experience.”
The projectis currently underway and estimated to be completed at the end of the year. Radiology registration and the patient reception area are temporarily relocated to the front entrance of the hospital during renovations. For patient convenience, directional signage has been placed at various locations of the medical center. Once complete, TGMC will be able to provide the most advanced technology in diagnostic care.
