Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) and OchsnerHealth System (Ochsner) announce their intent to expand their currentsuccessful collaborative efforts in managing Leonard J.Chabert Medical Center into a more formal strategic partnership. Thepartnership will create greater opportunity to focus on shared savings anddecrease the overall healthcare cost while maintaining exceptionally highquality care.
This partnership is similar to many otherrelationships formed across the country, allowing systems to meet the goals andchallenges of healthcare reform while staying independent. The partners,TGMC and Ochsner, will work together to take advantage of joint purchasingability and also develop data and analytics to concentrate on supply chainmanagement and other large organizational expenses to reduce the cost ofdelivering care.
In a joint statement, PhyllisPeoples, President and CEO, TGMC and Warner Thomas, President and CEO, Ochsner Health System said:

TGMC and Ochsner’s partnership will allow bothorganizations tomaintaincurrent governance and independence. This relationship will not includea merger or acquisition of organizations. In addition to their unique missions,each organization will retain their name, assets and employees to allow them tocontinue serving their patients.
TGMC is the leadingregional facility for the tri-parish area with national recognition andaccreditations and considered a critical resource for all residents of theregion. Ochsner is one of the Gulf South’s leadinghealth Systems, a national referral center and one ofonly 36 hospitals in the country ranked by U.S. News & World Report in ninemedical specialties.
The final agreement between TGMC and Ochsneris expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2015.
