SANDEE ELLENDER, RN RECEIVES THE TGMC HERO AWARD

03/21/2012

Heroes walk the halls everyday at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC). The hospital employs physicians and staff who save lives everyday on the job, and among those are also extraordinary individuals who go out of their way to do brave and noble acts and selflessly give to others.

TGMC is proud to recognize Sandee Ellender, RN, who works in the Outpatient Pavilion, as a TGMC Hero Award recipient

While watching a girls’ soccer game at Vandebilt Catholic High School in February, a referee collapsed in the middle of the field. Three mothers quickly jumped to the aid of the referee, one of which was TGMC’s very own Sandee Ellender. Sandee began assisting in performing CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene. Because of Sandee’s efforts along with the two other mothers, the referee’s life was saved.

“We want to commend Sandee for her heroic actions in coming to the aid and rescue of a stranger in distress.  She truly fulfills her obligations as a healthcare professional in all environments and is a great example of TGMC’s mission in action, providing exceptional healthcare with compassion,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO of TGMC.
