LOCAL HOSPITAL MARKETING DIRECTOR RECEIVES TOP HONOR AT LOUISIANA HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION PELICAN AWARDS

The Louisiana Hospital Association’s Society for Hospital Public Relations & Marketing (LSHPRM) recently awarded Rhonda Alfred, Director of Marketing and Planning for Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), a top honor at the 31st annual Pelican Award luncheon on Friday, October 12. The Pelican Awards are given each year to acknowledge exemplary efforts in hospital public relations and marketing throughout the state. 

Alfred was presented with LSHPRM’s Marketer of the Year Award, one of only five Golden Pelican Awards given to remarkable individuals in the field.

“At TGMC, we are honored to have Rhonda Alfred as a member of our leadership team who exhibits all of the talents and capabilities of a highly skilled leader in marketing and public relations,” says Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO.   

During tough economic times for the Bayou Region, the TGMC marketing program under Alfred’s expert leadership consistently adds value to hospital operations and to the community at large.  Alfred helps to further TGMC’s goal for marketing and public relations to work alongside local physicians to grow lasting relationships with the medical community.  

Alfred received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Loyola University New Orleans. Prior to coming to TGMC, she served as the Marketing Director for Teche Regional Medical Center. Alfred is a graduate of the Leadership Terrebonne program. She is an active member in the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Business Alliance. She serves on the TGMC United Way Committee and the board of the Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations.

TGMC also received Certificates of Merit at the 2012 Pelican Awards for its Take Care eNews for Health and Wellness newsletter and Take Care Magazine.
