Providing exceptional healthcare with compassion is the mission of every employee at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC). In an effort to recognize those employees that truly exemplify TGMC’s mission in action, TGMC has implemented the Mission in Action (M.I.A.) award program. This program recognizes employees that make it their priority to go above and beyond their call of duty to provide exceptional healthcare with compassion to patients and their caregivers.
TGMC is proud to recognize Eula Verret, Registered Respiratory Therapist in the Critical Respiratory Care Department (CRC) with the TGMC Mission in Action Award.
While working in CRC, Eula met a patient who had been in the hospital for over 70 days. The patient was very eager to get his hair cut but it would be very difficult to do so with all of the medical equipment that he was using. When Eula found out about him wanting to have his hair cut, she decided to come into the hospital on her day off to help readjust the medical equipment so that the hairdresser would be able to cut and blow dry this patient’s hair. The process of readjusting the patient took over an hour and a half and the patient was able to get a haircut before being moved to the Rehabilitation Unit. Eula’s efforts truly made the patients day.
“Eula’s story is one of the many stories we hear of our staff going above and beyond their call of duty to make our patient’s stay exceptional. We are proud of Eula’s willingness to put her patients first and want to recognize her for her outstanding service,” said Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO of TGMC.
