Anita Kelpsch was honored as Terrebonne General Medical Center’s (TGMC) 2011-2012 Volunteer of the Year at a luncheon honoring the men and women who do volunteer work at Terrebonne General Medical Center held on Friday, April 20th during National Healthcare Volunteer Week.
The TGMC Volunteer of the Year is voted on by fellow volunteers. Kelpsch has been a part of TGMC’s Volunteer Auxiliary for six years, dedicating over 1,600 hours of volunteer service.
“Ms. Kelpsch always gives unselfishly of her time and talents,” Josh Faucheux, TGMC Volunteer Coordinator said. “Her dedication to TGMC and our patients is outstanding. She is always willing to help and goes above and beyond what is expected. We are grateful that she has chosen to be part of the TGMC Volunteer Auxiliary,” Faucheaux continued.
Kelpsch loves helping people and enjoys the interaction with fellow volunteers, patients and visitors as evidenced by the upbeat attitude she brings to the hospital with her when she is here. She volunteers to assist with outside blood drives and various fundraising activities. Kelpsch also gives her time to her church and other community organizations.
“I want to congratulate Ms. Anita Kelpsch on her recognition as Volunteer of the Year. Our volunteers are truly dedicated to helping TGMC’s staff member’s, patients and their families. Over the past year our volunteers have given over 10,000 hours of service to TGMC and we cannot thank them enough for their service,” said Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO of TGMC.
Some of the responsibilities that the volunteers have include sales at the gift shop, greeting and escorting our patients and visitors, delivering flowers and mail, and assisting in various clerical departments of the hospital. “We are truly grateful for the time and energies our volunteers give to help our staff and patients,” Peoples said.
