Providing exceptional healthcare with compassion is the mission of every employee at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC). In an effort to recognize those employees that truly exemplify TGMC’s mission in action, the Customer Service Council has implemented the Mission in Action (M.I.A.) award program. This program recognizes employees that make it their priority to go above and beyond their call of duty to provide exceptional healthcare with compassion to patients and their caregivers.
TGMC is proud to recognize Amber Smith, RN in the Critical Care Unit with the TGMC Mission in Action Award.
While working her regular shift right before the Christmas Holidays, Amber Smith, RN, had the opportunity to take care of a sweet man who was very ill in Critical Care. This gentleman had been married to his wife for 40 years and this year he was faced with spending his Christmas Holiday in the hospital. Amber took it upon herself to help the patient purchase a Christmas gift for his wife, she wrapped the gift and the patient was able to give the gift to his wife for Christmas. Amber’s small act of kindness is what TGMC recognizes as she received the Mission in Action Award
“I am proud of Amber for truly bringing exceptional healthcare with compassion. Her passion for her patients is outstanding and we are excited to honor her efforts with the Mission in Action award,” said Phyllis Peoples, President and CEO of TGMC. “The Mission in Action award winners are great examples how TGMC’s employees make patient care their top priority, and we are proud of our employees for their efforts,” Peoples continued.
