Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC and Fakiér Jewelers are excited to announce the 6th Annual Fakier Open, presented by HTV-10 and honored veteran Eugene J. Folse, which will take place April 18-23 at Ellendale Country Club and will feature a professional golf tournament with the Adams Pro Tour. The Taste of the Tournament Par-Tee and Auction, the tournament’s signature party, will be held on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m.
Over the past six years the Fakiér Open has raised nearly $300,000 with the generous support from our local community. Every net dollar from the tournament benefits Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC helping to take the fight against cancer forward through prevention, innovation, research, survivorship, teamwork and patient assistance.
“It is due to the tremendous support of our community members that the Fakiér Open has helped touch the lives of hundreds patients undergoing treatment right here at home,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO of TGMC. “The funds raised have allowed our Cancer Center to host numerous screenings where more than 1,700 people received a free cancer screening when they may not otherwise have had the opportunity.”
This year’s honorary chairs for the Taste of the Tournament Par-Tee and Auction, part of the Fakiér Open, are Mike and Debi Samanie and co-chair Ann Babin. The event will feature some of the area’s most delicious local cuisine, music and a large silent auction selection. Tickets are $25/person and are available for purchase online at mbptgmc.org/taste or call (985) 851-8661.
The Pro-Am takes place Tuesday, April 19 in the form of a four-man shamble. Each team is composed of three amateur golfers and a professional from the Adams Pro Tour.
A free junior clinic for kids ages 6 - 16 is scheduled for Monday, April 18 in association with Adams Pro Tour professionals, weather permitting. Wednesday, April 20 through Saturday, April 23 is the Fakiér Open professional tournament featuring Adams Pro Tour players.
